Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Fair Job Market collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you use our website, marketplace, and related services.

Effective date: 09/17/2026

1. Who we are

Fair Job Market (“Fair Job Market,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a US-focused marketplace that connects employers, independent professionals, and recruiters. This Policy applies to personal information we process in connection with the platform.

Third parties that provide services through or alongside the platform, such as payment providers, may process personal information under their own privacy policies.

2. Information we collect

Account and contact information

We collect information such as your name, email address, password in hashed form, account type, email-verification status, communication preferences, and authentication settings.

Profile and professional information

Depending on your role, we may collect your business or professional name, profile photo, location, biography, skills, work history, portfolio information, LinkedIn URL, availability, rates, and other details you add to your profile. We also process profile-verification status, review history, rejection reasons, and related records.

Marketplace and contract information

We collect job posts, applications, proposals, application decisions, contracts, milestone descriptions, submissions, change requests, approvals, messages, uploaded files, and related activity history.

Payment, payout, and tax information

We process transaction amounts, platform fees, payment and payout status, payment provider account identifiers, transaction identifiers, payout eligibility, and related financial records. Payment providers such as Stripe collect and process payment-card, bank-account, identity, and tax information needed to provide their services. We do not receive or store complete payment-card or bank-account numbers when they are entered directly with the payment provider.

Recruiter and referral information

We collect recruiter profiles, referral identifiers, referral links, attribution records, referred-user relationships, platform-fee activity, earnings, payout status, and related reporting information.

Device, usage, and security information

We automatically collect information such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device details, pages and features used, dates and times, referring pages, session information, authentication activity, login successes and failures, user agent, security events, and error or diagnostic data. We may use analytics providers to help collect and analyze some of this information.

Communications and support

We collect information you provide when you contact us, report a problem, request a review, appeal a decision, participate in a dispute, or otherwise communicate with us.

3. How we collect information

We collect personal information from:

  • Recruiters, when they refer an employer or professional;
  • Payment, identity, security, hosting, and communications providers;
  • Your device and browser when you use the platform; and
  • Publicly available sources when reasonably necessary for verification, safety, or fraud prevention.

4. How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • Create, maintain, authenticate, and secure accounts;
  • Display profiles, job posts, and other marketplace content;
  • Process applications, contracts, milestones, submissions, and messages;
  • Facilitate payments, payouts, platform fees, refunds, and recruiter earnings;

  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, regulatory, and payment-provider requirements.

5. How we disclose personal information

Other marketplace users

We disclose information as needed for users to evaluate opportunities and carry out marketplace activity. For example, employers may view professional profiles and applications, professionals may view employer and job information, and contract participants may view contract, milestone, submission, payment-status, and message information relevant to their work.

Recruiters

If your account is attributed to a recruiter, that recruiter may see limited information about you and eligible platform activity. This may include your name, email address, join date, attribution status, and aggregate funded, earned, released, or fee information used to calculate and report recruiter earnings. Recruiters do not receive your complete payment-card or bank-account details.

Service providers

We disclose information to providers that help us operate and understand the platform, including payment and payout processing, hosting, infrastructure, email delivery, analytics, security, bot prevention, authentication, monitoring, storage, and support. These providers may process information only as permitted by their agreements and applicable law.

Legal, safety, and compliance purposes

We may disclose information when we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law or legal process, respond to lawful requests, protect rights or safety, prevent fraud or abuse, enforce our agreements, or investigate security incidents.

Business transfers

We may disclose or transfer information in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal protections.

With your direction or consent

We may disclose information for another purpose when you direct us to do so or give your consent.

8. Payment and identity providers

We use third-party providers, including Stripe, to process payments, connected accounts, identity or business verification, transfers, and payouts. Information submitted directly to a provider is governed by that provider’s privacy policy in addition to this Policy. Providers may share account status, capabilities, verification results, transaction information, and risk signals with us so we can operate the marketplace and comply with legal and payment-network obligations.

9. Data retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the services, maintain your account, complete transactions, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce our agreements, and meet legal, tax, accounting, payment-provider, and regulatory obligations.

Retention periods vary according to the type of information and why it was collected. We may retain transaction, contract, security, and compliance records after account closure when required or reasonably necessary. Information may remain temporarily in protected backups before deletion or de-identification.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. These may include access controls, encryption in transit, password hashing, multi-factor authentication options, login monitoring, rate limits, and security reviews. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access, loss, or misuse will never occur.
